Over the years information architecture for the web has gone from a part time job, potentially handled by anyone from the webmaster to the designer, to an in-depth and rigorous practice. User experience design is vital to any major web project, yet there still seem to be many situations where the UXD phase is combined into the overall concept and design effort. Over the years I’ve found myself in these situations often enough to have developed both a strong working knowledge of the discipline and a lot of respect for those who have mastered it.
